Audio Books

• ThoughtAudio.com - Collection of free mp3 versions of classic literature books. These mp3 files can be downloaded and played on any portable device that is compatible with mp3 files.
• Books Should be Free - Free audiobooks from the Public Domain. Some audio books have links to full texts of the book as well.
• Lit2Go - Lit2Go is a free online collection of stories and poems in Mp3 (audiobook) format. Lit2Go is an online service of Florida's Educational Technology Clearinghouse.
• LibriVox - LibriVox provides free audiobooks from the public domain. There are several options for listening. The first step is to get the mp3 or ogg files into your own computer:
• Ida Rupp Public Library  - 
  • Through the library consortium Ohio Digital Library, patrons of the Ida Rupp Public Library can use their library card to check out various audiobook titles. The titles can be listened to either on a personal computer, via various mp3 players, or other portable divices using the Overdrive or Libby App. Check the title details to see what device is compatible. A list of compatible devices can be found at the website along with a quickstart guides.
  • Ida Rupp Public Library also offers access to audiobooks and other digital media through Hoopla Digital.  You will need a library card and know your PIN number to setup an account.  Once you have created your FREE account, you can access books, movies, music and audiobooks.  There is also an App that can be download to access the materials on mobile devices.

eBooks

• Open eBooks- Students in Grades K-12 can see Ms. Schumm if they don't have a code and PIN number to access this resources.  Each student needs their own code.

  • Open eBooks is a partnership between the Digital Public Library of America, The New York Public Library, and First Book, with content support from digital books distributor Baker & Taylor.  This effort is made possible by generous commitments of publishers with funding support provided in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and is part of the White House ConnectED Initiative. 
  • Resources are divided into Elementary, Middle, and High School.  Students will recieve the code that corresponds to their enrollment.  There is an All-Grades account, but must be requested in writing by the student's parent/guardian.
  • NEW.  Starting Fall 2019, students can login to Open eBooks using Clever and their school Google credentials to access books on most mobile devices.  Chromebooks still require the individually issued Codes and PIN numbers.
• Planet eBook - The home of free classic literature. All the novels and books are entirely free for you to download and share with your friends, classmates, students, anyone! Visit the site for the list of titles.
• Google eBooks - hosts thousands of books that are in the public domain. Many of the public domain books can be viewed and downloaded in their entirety for free. To find the public domain books go into the advanced search options and select "public domain only" and "full text" options to find free full length books. For those titles not in the public domain, you will need to purchase the title to read the entire contents.
• International Children's Digital Library - Contains a collection of children's books that can be viewed full text online.
• Project Gutenberg - is the place where you can download over 33,000 free ebooks to read on your PC, iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader, iPhone, Android or other portable device.
• Epic! - Is available to use free in classrooms by educators.  You need to setup a teacher account first and then add your students. Home access is limited to the hours of 7am-4pm.
