Immunization Requirements
All newly enrolled students must provide vaccination records or a written exemption to the school office or nurse. Required vaccines for kindergarten include: DTP, Polio, Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella.

Vaccines are available during our May 20 Vaccination & Free Physical Clinic (3-5pm in the Norton Center), through the Ottawa County Health Department (419-734-6800) and some local providers/pharmacies (age and insurance restrictions may apply).

Hearing & Vision Screenings
Basic screenings are provided at school for students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 to help identify potential learning barriers. These are not a substitute for a professional exam. If you have concerns, please seek a full evaluation—I’m happy to help connect you with providers or resources if needed.

Health Needs at School
If your child has medical needs such as medications, allergies, or treatments, please reach out. I will work with you and your child’s teacher to ensure they are safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Mobile Dental Clinic
A mobile dental clinic visits Danbury once or twice per year. Participation is optional. If your child already sees a dentist regularly, services may not be covered by insurance. Enrollment is available online, and consent remains on file for 12 months. https://mobiledentists.com/

Lakers Take on NYC

Our recent trip to New York City was an unforgettable blend of learning, culture, and shared experience for our students. From the moment we arrived, the energy of the city set the tone for an immersive educational journey. Students from the CCP LIT 1500 class explored the innovative urban design of the subway and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and the excitement of Times Square at night. The Lakers strolled along Fifth Avenue, taking in iconic landmarks like St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center before entering the natural oasis of Central Park. There, they experienced some of the city’s most famous landscapes while navigating purse shopping opportunities and street hot dog vendors. A rainy afternoon was spent at the world-class Metropolitan Museum of Art, where students saw iconic artwork such as Emanuel Leutze’s 1851 oil-on-canvas painting Washington Crossing the Delaware and Monet's Water Lilies . The highlight of the trip was attending a Broadway performance of The Great Gatsby , where students saw literature come to life in a powerful and engaging way.
NYC
Our trip concluded with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial, offering students a meaningful opportunity for reflection and connection to an important moment in our nation’s history. Throughout the trip, students demonstrated responsibility, curiosity, and enthusiasm as they navigated one of the world’s most dynamic cities. One of the best parts of the trip was the food, from the morning bagels to the afternoon matcha lattes, this experience not only deepened their understanding of literature, history, and urban life, but also created lasting memories and strengthened our school community. A Huge thank you to Mr. Tim Heffernan, Alecia Wunder & Kim Redfern for coordinating and showing our students around "The Big Apple!"

Help us celebrate Miranda Ertsenian and Logan Lucas for their nomination as Croghan Colonial Bank's Athletes of the Month for May! Your dedication and drive continue to raise the bar—Laker proud! #Excellence #Leadership
