Class of 2027
Congratulations on your student becoming a senior! It’s an exciting time and vaccinations are probably the last thing on your mind, but as the school nurse I need to communicate vaccine requirements for school. Incoming 12th graders need to have two doses of meningococcal vaccine (the first one was due in seventh grade) prior to entry, as required by Ohio state law. Documentation of this vaccination or an exemption is needed please.

Vaccines are also available at FREE PHYSICAL night May 20th or make your appointments over the summer to avoid the rush in September. These vaccinations can be obtained at the Ottawa County Health Department 419-734-6800, at some primary care providers, and some pharmacies can give this vaccine too. I appreciate your effort in providing these documents to the high school office or school nurse. Please contact me if you have questions.

Thank you,
Mrs. Allison Holzaepfel MSN, RN

Help us celebrate Oliver Cheng & Paige Lyons for being recognized at the 32nd Annual Nine-to-Five breakfast on May 1st! This event recognized 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from each Ottawa County high school who demonstrated significant improvement in their school experience from Sept (the 9th month) to May (the 5th month) hence 9 to 5. While students were honored for grit and determination, each student in turn recognized an educator, family member or mentor for their support and encouragement: Paige recognized Mrs. Jane Letterhos, and Oliver recognized Mr. Dan Nitecki as their significant person!

NYC Time Square

Lakers take on New York City

Our recent trip to New York City was an unforgettable blend of learning, culture, and shared experience for our students. From the moment we arrived, the energy of the city set the tone for an immersive educational journey. Students from the CCP LIT 1500 class explored the innovative urban design of the subway and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and the excitement of Times Square at night. The Lakers strolled along Fifth Avenue, taking in iconic landmarks like St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center before entering the natural oasis of Central Park. There, they experienced some of the city’s most famous landscapes while navigating purse shopping opportunities and street hot dog vendors. A rainy afternoon was spent at the world-class Metropolitan Museum of Art, where students saw iconic artwork such as Emanuel Leutze’s 1851 oil-on-canvas painting Washington Crossing the Delaware and Monet's Water Lilies . The highlight of the trip was attending a Broadway performance of The Great Gatsby , where students saw literature come to life in a powerful and engaging way.
Subway ride
Our trip concluded with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial, offering students a meaningful opportunity for reflection and connection to an important moment in our nation’s history. Throughout the trip, students demonstrated responsibility, curiosity, and enthusiasm as they navigated one of the world’s most dynamic cities. One of the best parts of the trip was the food, from the morning bagels to the afternoon matcha lattes, this experience not only deepened their understanding of literature, history, and urban life, but also created lasting memories and strengthened our school community. A Huge thank you to Mr. Tim Heffernan, Alecia Wunder & Kim Redfern for coordinating and showing our students around "The Big Apple!"
